Great Hills Remodel
A dated 1990s kitchen reborn as a sleek, open-concept space for a large, busy family. Award of Merit, Kitchen.
About this project
The challenge was to transform a dated 1990s space into a sleek, updated, open-concept kitchen — introducing streamlined design while respecting the home's traditional architecture.
Opening the kitchen to the living area was the top priority, improving flow for a large family who loves to entertain. Higher-end appliances, generous cabinet storage, a larger gathering island and more effective task lighting rounded out the wish list.
Streamlined touches — sleek lighting and hardware, a fresh monochromatic palette and solid quartz counters — bridge the owners' contemporary taste with the home's traditional bones. A textural backsplash grounds the space, while wood, iron and even a chalkboard door keep the palette from feeling sterile.
Let's design a space that works as beautifully as it lives
